“They are awesome. They provided us with such a great service, that frankly exceeded all our expectations. Troy, the owner/manager took it upon himself to guide us through the process and help us with all the documents that we needed. Especially when it came to documents necessary to transport our loved one’s remains (ashes) out of the country. He really went above and beyond with his caring and compassionate service. Five well deserved stars. I highly recommend using their service.”
Onathy – El Segundo, CA
“I would like to say that I used Opal services after my oldest daughter died suddenly in her sleep. I was completely unprepared for what to expect and I had very little money to do a burial. One of her friends mentioned that she wanted to be cremated. I found Opal Cremation here on yelp. They only had one review, but I decided to request services. Let me tell you, they were awesome. They made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. I thank them for their compassion, knowledge and attention to all the details. They made what could have been a very stressful event almost stress less.. I truly appreciate Opal cremation services.”

Special Places to Celebrate a Life in LA
There are countless reasons to love Los Angeles. Whether your loved one grew up in the area, or if it held meaning for them for other reasons, there are so many unique places and spaces to host a Celebration of Life event in which to honor and reflect on your loved one’s memory. From the bright lights and big city of Hollywood to the long stretch of shoreline at Long Beach, and everything in between, you are sure to find a meaningful way to celebrate a life well lived in the City of Angels.
For a family-friendly day of togetherness and reflection, perhaps after a memorial service, Leo Carillo State Beach easily fits the bill. Not only does this beach have tidal pools and sea caves, you can also find picnic areas, campsites, and a visitor center with interactive displays so you can learn more about the history of the park. You can find Leo Carillo State Beach in Malibu, on the Pacific Coast Highway, 28 miles north of Santa Monica. This is a terrific spot to sit back, take a deep breath, and spend some time with family and friends during what might otherwise be a stressful time following the loss of a loved one.
If you are honoring a loved one who enjoyed being active and enjoyed nature, grab some sturdy hiking shoes and water, and explore some of the beautiful hiking trails that Los Angeles has to offer. For a very special treat, consider visiting the Eaton Canyon Natural Area and Nature Center. This spectacular spot has a little bit of everything: gorgeous botanicals, a variety of live animals, and a beautiful and refreshing waterfall, making this an ideal place to quietly reflect on your recent loss. You can find Eaton Canyon at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in Pasadena.
Los Angeles has more museums and theaters than any other city in the U.S. If you are celebrating an artist or a loved one who appreciated art, consider spending some time at The Broad. The Broad is a contemporary art museum which offers free general admission and regularly rotating exhibitions. You can find The Broad on Grand Avenue in Downtown LA. Even if art isn’t something you generally spend time with, The Broad makes it accessible to all in a warm and welcoming environment—providing a terrific opportunity to unwind with family and friends, while reflecting on the shared loss of your loved one.
While Los Angeles is generally thought of as a big, celebrity-filled city, it has so much more to offer than bright lights and famous stars. Whether you’re looking for an escape after experiencing a loss, or a place to hold a unique memorial service, LA is home to beautiful beaches, parks, and nature trails, a vibrant art scene, and some of the best food and drinks in the country. Los Angeles is full of special, meaningful opportunities to celebrate a life well lived.
