If Chula Vista held a special place in your loved ones heart—whether they called it home, or made lifelong memories there for another reason, there are numerous spaces and places that make this city an ideal place to hold a Celebration of Life event. Chula Vista means “beautiful view” in Spanish, and it’s a fitting name for this lovely city. Tucked between San Diego Bay and the mountain hills, Chula Vista has it all: coastal landscape, canyons, rolling hills, mountains, and parks. There is no shortage of places in which to find a special way to honor a loved one.
The Chula Vista Marina provides a peaceful, beautiful atmosphere set away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. With a waterfront restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a public fishing pier, the Chula Vista Marina has something for everyone. You can bring your family and friends to share a meal at the Gallery at the Marina after a Celebration of Life event, or find some quiet time to yourself to reflect on your loved one while watching the sun make its descent across the ocean.
Memorial Bowl Park is the second oldest park in the city of Chula Vista. The land, located in the downtown area, was acquired in 1937 and the Bowl itself was built shortly thereafter to honor those who lost their lives while serving our country. The Bowl can be rented for gatherings, including Celebrations of Life or a more traditional memorial service. This location would be particularly meaningful if you are honoring a veteran as here you can also find the city’s Memorial Monument dedicated to our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice, dating back to World War II.
Are you honoring a loved one who enjoyed gardening? Look no further than the South Bay Botanical Garden. Located within the campus of Southwestern College—eight miles from the Pacific Ocean and five miles from the Mexican border, this gorgeous collection of trees, shrubs, flowers, ground covers, various turf grasses, plant collections, and water features encompasses four acres and is a botanist’s dream. Consider making a donation to the garden in memory of your loved one, or coordinate a volunteer day to help maintain and beautify this special piece of land to keep your loved one close to your heart.

This special SoCal city offers plenty of options to celebrate a well lived life, either through large gatherings or quiet, personal reflection.
